Howdy! from the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum
USO operations in Oklahoma recently collaborated with the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum for their first Military Appreciation Day as part of Day of Cowboy. USO Volunteers hosted a “thank you” card making station for patrons to write to service members. When patrons were asked, “Would you like to thank a service member?”, our volunteers did not hear the response “no”.
Over 300 cards were created for USO to include in care packages to deploying service members from Oklahoma. Participants included youth, adults, veterans, and the museum mascot Chester!
The infamous cowboy cook, Kent Rollins visited the USO area and expressed his appreciation for our military. It was a great day for patriotism, support for our military and more awareness of the USO mission.
